Preservation, Ornament, Murals, & Design

These are the two towers of St. Augustine Cathedral in Tucson after their renovation.  The picture was taken from the top of a building across the street at sunrise.  The towers and the whole body of the Cathedral were white until January of 2008.  I was called in to make some recommendations for color and ended up addressing several architectural issues. Some awkward proportions were corrected with paint, gold leaf, and trompe-l’oeil decoration.

My Mantra:  It’s about the architecture!

My Goal:  Create and inspire!

Isn’t this a nice picture?
